Small business services
Many people run successful companies with up to 10 employees. Some start from home or are spun out from larger operations. The owner/managers of these enterprises generally have a distinct set of challenges and goals that may be different from those facing the typical SME with up to 200 staff. Lothian Associates has developed specific services for such businesses that draw from its work with SMEs and from many such ‘smaller business’ projects across a variety of sectors.
These services involve an assignment to review and health-check the smaller business in pursuit of readily affordable improvements. Clients receive a focused presentation encompassing an overview of current challenges, Lothian Associates’ recommendations and draft action plans. In almost all cases, the process of carrying out this exercise proves helpful in itself, as well as revealing unexpected benefits for the owner/managers.
We are competitive and flexible on costs, preferring to link fees to client concepts of value rather than just hourly rates. We aim to be affordable and accessible to each client and resist projects that won’t allow us to add value.
We also offer remote ‘maintenance, support and development’ hand-holding, once critical objectives have been agreed. Some of our clients regard this service as the equivalent of having a non-executive director (NED) without the usual costs and formality.
